The Michigan Nanotechnology Institute (MNIMBS) is looking for a temporary research laboratory assistant to work maximum of 30 hours/week (on average).

Candidate will obtain an increasing understanding of the operations of a research lab and the importance of proper organization of materials and cleanliness required for experiments. This job involves cleaning, wrapping, labeling and sterilizing glassware and other fragile lab equipment for biological and chemical labs; clean table, sinks, benches, receive and distribute samples of material; fill reagent bottles; operate gas, steam and heat sterilizing equipment; dispose of refuse. Some data entry, preparing orders, and maintaining lab supplies will be required.
The successful candidate will be able to learn and then apply basic biology/immunology laboratory techniques.
The successful candidate will be able to play a role by assisting in providing analytical support and maintenance of the analytical laboratory at MNIMBS. Familiarity with the lab equipment listed is desired but candidate can be trained and must have willingness to learn. Representative duties are listed below:
1. Preparation of solvents and buffer solutions for UPLC, HPLC, & gel permeation chromatography
2. Ability to run samples for analysis by UPLC, HPLC and GPC
3. Performing data analysis (UPLC and GPC), and uploading into Ctools
Other duties are as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

High school diploma with some college level classes in chemistry and biology and lab classes a must.

Desired Qualifications*

Scientific knowledge of and/or research experience working in chemical or biological labs. Knowledge of UPLC, HPLC, and GPC.
